Maribel Martinez-Gunter

Maribel Martinez-Gunter serves as the interim Project Director of Bronx Legal Services. With 30 years of experience, she has focused on leadership, trial litigation, and developing partnerships with low-income communities to build power.  he has been with LSNYC for 18 years, first as a staff attorney and then directing the Family Law and Immigration practices before joining the Bronx office. An experienced litigator and advocate, Maribel has successfully led the Upper Manhattan Domestic Violence Services Collaborative and launched annual Shine the Light in Harlem events, initiated a thriving mental health/legal partnership with a major New York hospital, and helped to create Day One, a youth-focused non-profit, defending youth and training young people to lead student movements against dating violence, among other accomplishments.  Maribel is a graduate of New York University and The City University of New York School of Law and is a Leadership Fellow Alum of the Executive Certificate Program at Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs of Baruch College.  She serves on two Boards and is frequently a guest lecturer for law school and college classes.
