QLS Foils Landlord Trying to Cash in on Rental Program Designated for Former Homeless

September 15, 2017

September 15, 2017, QUEENS NY— Today’s New York Law Journal features a QLS Housing Rights victory of special significance to formerly homeless New Yorkers in the NYC LINC rent subsidy program which subsidizes their rent and pays the landlord a $1000 bonus for enrolling in the program. In this case, the landlord brought an eviction case against QLS’s client, a LINC recipient, wrongfully claiming that it had the right to evict him because his lease had expired.

In fact, the tenant had the right to a renewal lease because he was in good standing with the LINC program. Thanks to QLS advocacy, the case was dismissed and our client can continue to enjoy the benefits of a program serving the city’s neediest New Yorkers.
