Edward M. Flint Educational Fund
Legal Services NYC would like to thank the firm of Silverman Acampora LLP for generously endowing our New York City Bankruptcy Assistance Project (NYC BAP) with the Edward M. Flint Educational Fund. Ed Flint was a partner at Silverman Acampora LLP, and passed away in February 2014 at age 65.
Silverman Acampora’s initial gift of $15,000 to NYC BAP to promote bankruptcy education, and commitment of future support, are a fitting tribute to Ed’s lifelong commitment to achieving social justice for the underrepresented. Ed practiced bankruptcy law and complex commercial litigation for more than 20 years. In addition to serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Buffalo Law Review and Chairman of the Banking, Commercial, and Corporation Law Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association, he was a longtime volunteer for the Eastern Farm Workers’ Association and on the Board of the Family Service League.
NYC BAP will use the Edward M. Flint Fund to promote bankruptcy education and increase the accessibility of bankruptcy relief to low-income New Yorkers. Since NYC BAP’s inception in 2005, we have filed over 1,100 bankruptcy petitions and discharged approximately $48 million of debt.
