October 23-29, 2011, marked the Third Annual National Pro Bono Week. Every year, Legal Services NYC—the largest organization in the nation exclusively devoted to providing free civil legal services to low-income persons—leverages its resources with thousands of hours of pro bono assistance from pro bono attorneys and other volunteers. Included in this newsletter are examples of just a few of the ways in which pro bono attorneys, by partnering with Legal Services NYC, helped low-income New Yorkers achieve access to the justice system over the past year.
