LSNYC helps 99-year-old client fulfill her dream of becoming an U.S. Citizen

You’re never too old to chase your dreams! Congrats to Ms. E, a 99-year-old immigrant from Cuba, on fulfilling her dream of becoming a U.S. citizen and a shoutout to her advocate, Mayra Chalas who fought tirelessly on her behalf.

Ms. E’s case was not easy. She had several medical conditions associated with aging that affected her short-term memory and mobility. Yet Mayra pursued naturalization for Ms. E anyway and submitted a Medical Certification for Disability Exceptions along with her naturalization application. Mayra even went with Ms. E to her naturalization interview where her medical waiver was granted.

Ms. E is thrilled to be a US citizen and is excited to participate in her first US election in November. Congratulations to Ms. E and her family.
