Our Fellowships

Raun J. Rasmussen Justice Fellowship

In honor of Raun J. Rasmussen’s retirement as executive director, and in celebration of his dedication to justice, LSNYC created the Raun J. Rasmussen (RJR) Justice Fellowship. Raun has spent his entire 40-year career fighting for justice for low-income New Yorkers. The RJR Justice Fellow builds on Raun’s legacy and our work helping New Yorkers who need our services the most.

Edward N. Simon Fellowship

Edward N. Simon Fellowship was created by LSNYC’s Manhattan office in partnership with the family of our colleague and partner in the fight for social justice, Ed Simon. Throughout his professional life Ed fought for the rights of New Yorkers living in poverty and passionately challenged systems of oppression. Ed worked tirelessly for his clients, working too many late nights—there was always one more motion that could be filed. In 2003 Ed’s commitment to the provision of free legal services was recognized when he was presented with the Legal Services Award by the New York City Bar Association. This annual summer fellowship honors Ed’s fierce dedication to justice.
