Talking Transition with Staten Island Legal Services
Staten Island Legal Services Disaster Recovery Unit Director Meg Becker participated this week in Talking Transition, a program convened by ten major foundations that seeks to give New Yorkers a voice in the upcoming mayoral transition. As part of the series, the Center for New York City Neighborhoods (CNYCN) convened a conversation on innovative ideas the incoming administration can look to as they think about new ways to preserve and protect affordable housing in New York City. The discussion touched on a variety of issues and challenges that affect New Yorkers in all five boroughs.
In addition to Meg, other speakers at the event included Ismene Speliotis from MHANY, Drew Goldsman and Mamta Gurung from Chhaya CDC, Judith Goldiner from the Legal Aid Society, Shola Olatoye from Enterprise Community Partners, Denise Scott from LISC NYC, and Vicki Been from the Furman Center. Video of the event is available at the Talking Transition website; Meg’s presentation begins at 38:40 with a short CNYCN-produced video highlighting our Sandy recovery work.
