Legal Services NYC kicked off our 50th anniversary celebrations with the Jazz for Justice Benefit on June 18, 2018 at Cipriani 42nd Street. Over 350  supporters, clients, staff, and board members came together to celebrate and recognize our dedicated immigration advocates and the top 10 law firm and corporate partners in our pro bono immigration campaign. The event was enlivened by a live jazz performance by Henry Butler, Steven Bernstein and The Hot 9.

Celebrating Our 50th Anniversary

Our mission is to fight poverty and seek racial, social, and economic justice for low income New Yorkers. Since 1968 our advocates have been at the forefront of the fight for justice for New Yorkers living in poverty. We have been responsible for Golberg v. Kelly and increasing the incomes of hundreds of thousands of New York City families; for the kneeling buses and Access-A-Ride that provide transportation for people with disabilities; for the reduction of lead paint and lead poisoning across the city; for the preservation of tens of thousands of affordable apartments and houses; for the safety of thousands of survivors of domestic violence; for unifying and stabilizing immigrant families; and for providing access to a high quality education for children with special needs. Watch this video for a snapshot of our victories and program developments over the past five decades.

Top 10 Partners in LSNYC’s Pro Bono Immigration Campaign

Launched just after the 2016 election, LSNYC’s Pro Bono Immigration Campaign has now assisted more than 1,000 low-income immigrants on matters ranging from naturalizations, to U-visas and asylum.

We were delighted to honor our top 10 partners in this campaign, who have collectively hosted dozens of clinics, and represented hundreds of clients.
